Zen-Nippon Nisai Yushun Race History

The Zen-Nippon Nisai Yushun, the second event on the Japan Road to the Kentucky Derby, offers points on a 20-10-6-4-2 scale to the top five finishers. The mid-December highlight attracts Japan’s leading dirt two-year-olds, representing both the elite Japan Racing Association (JRA) and the generally lesser National Association of Racing (NAR), to Kawasaki Racecourse. Inaugurated in 1950, it was lengthened to its current distance of a metric mile in 1959.
