Winning Impression among 10 pursuing Derby points in Indiana Derby

Fourth when making his stakes debut in the first division of the Arkansas Derby (G1), Winning Impression has been installed as a slight 3-1 morning line favorite in Wednesday's $300,000 Indiana Derby (G3) at Indiana Grand.
Scheduled for 7:45 p.m. ET, the 1 1/16-mile Indiana Derby has been added as a qualifier for the Sept. 5 Kentucky Derby (G1). It will award points on a 20-8-4-2 scale as part of the Road to the Kentucky Derby series.
Winning Impression broke his maiden at Fair Grounds over the winter for Dallas Stewart. A gray gelding by Paynter, the sophomore finished first by a length in an Apr. 4 allowance at Oaklawn Park two starts back, but was placed fifth via disqualification. Julien Leparoux will be in to ride.
Major Fed rates as a major contender. The Greg Foley trainee did not fire against Maxfield in the May 23 Matt Winn (G3) at Churchill Downs, but the dark bay son of Ghostzapper is capable of bouncing back here. A Grade 2 runner-up, Major Fed finished a troubled fourth in the TwinSpires.com Louisiana Derby (G2) two back. James Graham picks up the mount on the 9-2 second choice.
Shared Sense, runner-up to an impressive Art Collector in a June 13 allowance at Churchill, comes next at 4-1. Florent Geroux will be in to ride for Brad Cox. Earner, third to Man in the Can in a June 12 allowance at Churchill, can't be dismissed for Steve Asmussen. Stewart Elliott has the call.
No Getting Over Me and Taishan are both stakes-placed, and speedster Juggernaut, a good second in a turf allowance most recently, is another runner of interest.
