Saturday’s $300,000 Starlet (G1) at Los Alamitos has attracted a field of seven fillies who will try to make a splash on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks. The 1 1/16-mile test offers points on the 10-4-3-2-1 scale to the top five eligible finishers.

The only entrant with experience at the distance is Uncontrollable, who scored four points for her runner-up effort in the Oct. 8 Chandelier (G2) at Santa Anita. The Michael McCarthy trainee picks up Hall of Fame rider Mike Smith as she aims to move up the Oaks leaderboard.
Blessed Touch stretches out to two turns after placing second in the Desi Arnaz S. to one of the most exciting prospects on the Southern California circuit, Justique. By successful first-crop sire Girvin, the Tim Yakteen juvenile keeps Drayden Van Dyke aboard.
Another Girvin filly, Faiza, is likely to be the heavy favorite in the wake of her smashing debut win at Del Mar. She is ineligible for Oaks points, however, since trainer Bob Baffert is suspended by Churchill Downs Inc. Her Baffert stablemates Fast and Shiny and the maiden Doinitthehardway are likewise competing for black-type laurels and purses, not Oaks points.
Pride of the Nile has won two straight going a mile on turf, a Santa Anita maiden and Del Mar allowance, for the Doug O’Neill barn. As a daughter of Pioneerof the Nile and the multiple Grade 3-placed Inny Minnie, she’s entitled to transfer her game to the main track.
Rounding out the field is Classymademoiselle, who was awarded her maiden win via disqualification and exits a seventh behind Pride of the Nile in a turf allowance.
Post time for the Starlet, the ninth race at Los Alamitos on Saturday, is 7:30 p.m. (ET), and you can watch and wager at TwinSpires.com
