Godolphin homebred Sovereignty earned 10 points on the 2025 Road to the Kentucky Derby after posting a five-length tally in the Street Sense S. (G3) at Churchill Downs on October 27 under Junior Alvarado. He ran 1 1/16 miles on the fast main strip in a stakes-record 1:43.86 in his first black-type attempt.
Tiztastic, Sandman, Dapper Moon, and Bracket Buster rounded out the top five and earned points on a 5-3-2-1 basis.
“This is rare to see a horse break their maiden in a two-turn stakes race like today,” Alvarado said following the race. “We knew that this horse had a lot of talent. He broke great today. When I turned for home I just showed him the road and he took off. Things are coming together with his development, I think as the distances get longer they will not be a problem for him.”
Sovereignty came all the way back from last to first to take the Street Sense Stakes @ChurchillDowns on Sunday!
That earned the 2yo TwinSpires Stable Alerts Horse of the Week!

The son of Into Mischief debuted at Saratoga on August 24 and was last early prior to putting in a nice late run to be fourth in a tough spot at six furlongs on the dirt. Stretched out to one mile at Aqueduct for his second appearance, the bay was a very smart runner-up while finishing well clear of the third-place finisher. His lifetime line now reads 3-1-1-0, $143,280.
Sovereignty is the initial stakes runner produced from the unraced Bernardini mare Crowned, who is out of Grade-1 winning millionaire Mushka. This is the same female line as four-time Grade 1 victress Lakeway.
Trained by Bill Mott, the two-year-old has posted Brisnet Speed figures of 88-89-93 from his trio of lifetime runs to date, accompanied by Late Pace figures of 101-96-98. He surely appreciated the move to two turns beneath the Twin Spires, and there are a lot of stamina influences throughout his catalog page, so the youngster is surely one to watch on the 2025 Road to the Kentucky Derby.
