Scott Heider’s Crossfirehurricane earned 20 points on the 2020 European Road to the Kentucky Derby challenge series when recording a half-length triumph in the Patton S. at Dundalk. The 3-year-old moved his mark to a perfect 3-for-3 after his all-weather tally under Shane Crosse. Crossfirehurricane completed the test in 1:40.10 for his first stakes triumph.

His stablemate Choice of Mine garnered place honors and 8 points on the European Road to the Kentucky Derby, with maidens Orchid Gardens and Dutch Admiral rounding out the top four.
Crossfirehurricane ran once as a 2-year-old and made his debut a winning one when coming out on top on the turf at Limerick at odds of 11-1. Prior to his initial stakes venture, the Joseph O’Brien trainee rolled home an impressive allowance winner at Dundalk going 7 furlongs.
The winner was bred in Kentucky by Glen Hill Farm and Scott Heider, and is the first stakes winner produced from the Maria’s Mon mare Louvakhova, who was best in the 2011 Francis A. Genter S. Louvakhova counts herself as a half-sister to champion Flotilla, heroine of the 2012 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1).
Crossfirehurricane is a wildcard on the Road to the Kentucky Derby. The chestnut colt has never run on the dirt, and his pedigree is top and bottom geared towards the turf. But the colt obviously has class to him, and he could easily improve as the distances increase.
