Rodeo Creek Racing’s Blazing Sevens picked up 10 points on the 2023 Road to the Kentucky Derby challenge series following his 3 1/4-length triumph in the $500,000 Champagne S. (G1) at Aqueduct on Oct. 1. The winner clocked one mile on the sloppy, sealed oval in 1:37.07 with Flavien Prat in the stirrups.
“He had a good trip,” said Prat. “He broke well and he got himself into the race. I was traveling really well on the backside and decided to drop myself in and try to save some ground a bit. He was traveling really well all the way around and when I tipped him out and he changed leads, he really changed gears as well.'
The son of Good Magic was bred in Kentucky by Tracy Farmer and is the first

Trophy Girl, who counts herself as a half-sister to 2012 Jamaica H. (G1)
victor King David. Initially sold at the 2021 Keeneland January Sale for $100,000, he was bought by his current owners at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling Sale later that year for $225,000.
Blazing Sevens made his debut at Saratoga on July 24 and left little doubt at first asking when crossing the wire 6 1/4 lengths in front in a six-furlong dirt dash. The dark bay colt finished a distant third in the Hopeful S. (G1) at The Spa in his effort preceding the Champagne.
Blazing Sevens registered Brisnet Speed figures of 87-84-86 in his first three starts. He has yet to travel two turns, but the smart prospect's running style suggests that added ground will benefit him. And his trainer seems to agree.
Following the race, conditioner Chad Brown stated, 'He's looking for two turns, this horse. I can't wait to get him around two turns.”
A start in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) at Keeneland on Nov. 4 is the next target for Blazing Sevens.
