Cathryn Sophia seeks to keep mark perfect in Davona Dale

Cathryn Sophia was the easiest of winners while making her sophomore debut in the Forward Gal S. (G2) on January 30 at Gulfstream Park, and on Saturday will attempt to move her record to a perfect four-for-four in the $200,000 Davona Dale S. (G2) back at that track.
The Davona Dale is part of the Road to the Kentucky Oaks series of points races and offers up 50 points to the winner. Cathryn Sophia already garnered 10 points for her Forward Gal score and would drastically improve her position on the Kentucky Oaks (G1) leaderboard with a win in Saturday’s one-mile contest.
The John Servis-trained daughter of Street Boss began her career at Parx Racing, dominating by 12 lengths in her debut, before traveling to Laurel Park for a 16-length demolition job in the Gin Talking S. on December 5.
Jockey Javier Castellano will take over from Cathryn Sophia’s injured regular rider, Joel Rosario.
Another looking to improve her Kentucky Oaks credentials is the Chad Brown-trained Lewis Bay. The Bernardini filly dropped her first start over a muddy, sealed surface at Belmont Park before returning one month later to break her maiden by six lengths.
Lewis Bay was immediately thrown to the wolves next out when entered in the Demoiselle S. (G2), but emerged victorious from that nine-furlong Aqueduct affair under regular pilot Irad Ortiz Jr., who retains the mount for Saturday’s Davona Dale.
Five other fillies will line up against Cathryn Sophia and Lewis Bay, including undefeated Dearest, who will be making her stakes bow in this spot, and last-out Gasparilla S. romper R Girls a Charmer. Thrilled faces Lewis Bay for the second straight time in this spot after finishing second in the Demoiselle while making her dirt debut.
Forward Gal fourth-placer Rontos Lily and claimer Bagema complete the field.
