Morplay Racing’s No More Time picked up 20 qualifying points on the 2024 Road to the Kentucky Derby following his 1 1/4-length score in the $200,000 Sam F. Davis S. (G3) at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 10. The Jose D’Angelo trainee led at every call while completing 1 1/16 miles on the fast main oval in 1:43.26 under the guidance of Paco Lopez.

“The trainer told me to put on the brakes out of the gate and sit third or fourth, but my horse broke unbelievable and I let him go,” Lopez said. “The pace was a little faster than I wanted, but his first and second quarters were very natural. I had plenty of horse the whole way and when I asked him, he gave me everything.”

No More Time commenced his career in a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight dash at Gulfstream Park on Sept. 9 and finished a clear second. In his second lifetime appearance, the youngster powered home to a 6 3/4-length tally while traveling one mile at Gulfstream. Prior to his Sam F. Davis coup, the sophomore was a troubled fifth in the Mucho Macho Man S. on Jan. 1. His lifetime line now reads 4-2-1-0, $156,780.

The winner was bred in the Bluegrass State by Mamas Thoroughbreds and brought the gavel down at $40,000 at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. He is the first black-type runner produced from the winning Speightstown mare Baroness Juliette. No More Time hails from the same female line as 2001 Hollywood Futurity (G1) winner Siphonic, 2008 Hollywood Starlet S. (G1) heroine Laragh, as well as Grade 1 victor Smooth Like Strait.

No More Time has earned Brisnet Speed figures of 83-92-84-93 from four lifetime races to date. The dark bay displayed fine early speed in his latest outing, and the colt gave the impression of a prospect who will be able to endure added distance going forward.

According to his connections, the $400,000 Tampa Bay Derby (G2) on March 9 is the next potential target for the three-year-old.
